Your Questions. Our Answers.

  • No. You will be completely numb during treatment. Dr. Bernstein uses a careful numbing technique designed to be gentle and effective. For patients who are anxious or prefer not to be aware during treatment, sedation options are available.

  • Much less than most people expect. In the past, porcelain restorations required significant reduction to make room for metal. Today’s porcelains are much thinner and stronger, so only the amount of tooth necessary for proper fit, strength, and longevity is adjusted.

  • You are not locked into a final result early in the process. Temporary restorations allow you to see and feel your new smile before anything permanent is placed. Adjustments can be made at that stage, and final porcelain is not completed until you’re comfortable with the result.

  • With proper care and regular dental visits, porcelain restorations can last many years. Longevity depends on oral health, habits such as grinding or clenching, and routine maintenance. These factors will be discussed clearly so expectations are realistic from the start.

  • All dental procedures carry some risk, and we believe in being transparent about that. The most common risk—whether with a filling, crown, or veneer—is the possible need for future treatment such as a root canal. Less common risks exist and will be reviewed in detail before treatment begins.

  • Cost depends on the type and extent of treatment. Cosmetic dentistry is an investment, and options can often be phased or prioritized. We’ll walk through recommendations, alternatives, and timelines so you can decide what makes sense for you.

  • All New Smiles is an out-of-network practice. Cosmetic dentistry is typically not covered by insurance, though some restorative portions of treatment may be eligible for partial reimbursement. We’ll help you understand what may apply before moving forward.

  • Sedation options range from nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to oral sedation, IV sedation, and, in some cases, general anesthesia with an anesthesiologist. Dr. Bernstein is a licensed sedation dentist and will recommend options based on your comfort level and medical history.

  • That’s an important question. Some patients come in knowing exactly what they want to change; others are still exploring. We’ll help you understand what is necessary, what is optional, and what can wait. Sometimes the best recommendation is a conservative one.

  • The first visit is focused on understanding your concerns, evaluating your oral health, and discussing options. You’ll have time to ask questions, and there is no expectation to make a decision that day.

  • Dental anxiety is very common. We move at a pace that feels manageable, explain what’s happening as we go, and offer comfort-focused options when needed. The goal is to make care feel calm and controlled.
