People often ask me if we do "regular" dentistry in my office. The answer is "yes" and "no."
"No" meaning we do not use mercury fillings, or ugly caps with gray metal at the gumline. "Yes" because we do "regular" restorative dentistry in addition to the cosmetic smile transformations we are known for.
The reason we use the newer materials and techniques is not just because the results are more attractive--they are actually better in my opinion. Newer fillings are bonded to strengthen teeth where silver fillings weaken teeth by wedging them apart. Porcelain veneers and crowns are also bonded so they almost never come off unexpectedly.
In the case posted here, I saw this patient for an emergency right before she went on vacation. An old filling had come out while she was eating. Using bonded composite resin, we were able to completely restore her tooth to it's original strength and beauty in just a few minutes--and in complete comfort.
That's the kind of "regular" dentistry we do.
