How can anyone sleep through a flight that is as dreadful as a dental appointment?
It turns out that people who are afraid of flying use the same sleeping pills that dentists use to sedate patients who are afraid of dentistry.
Triazolam and Lorazepam are two of the safest and most common sedatives that are used for both air travel and dental appointments. These medications aren’t just for the fearful, either. When people are facing a long flight or a long dental appointment, it makes sense to sleep through it. These medications “work like a dream,” so that when the medication wears off, it’s all behind you. In the case of a dental appointment, it’s very exciting to “wake up with a smile,” with barely any memory of all the work that has taken place while you were resting.
One of the most gratifying things I hear from patients is “When are we going to get started?” when in reality we have already finished the work! Makes me think that I should get a prescription for my next long flight!
